Free Electronic Music Concert Set for Embarcadero Plaza
On July 21, Another Planet Entertainment will host Dirtybird: Back to Baysics, part of an agreement to provide complimentary concerts throughout San Francisco this year. Located at Embarcadero Plaza, the event will run from 2 PM to 6 PM.
Concert Details
This daytime show draws inspiration from the previously popular Dirtybird Campouts, which last took place in 2022. Attendees can enjoy the concert free of charge, provided they RSVP, although there may be a limit on the number of people allowed in.
Among the lineup, headlining the event is the renowned DJ Sacha Robotti, with additional performances by Moody Jones and Deron Delgado. Reportedly, two more artists will be announced shortly. Interested concert-goers can receive updates by texting “FERRY” to 415-446-1025.
Logistics and Attendance Expectations
To accommodate the concert, some street closures will occur around Embarcadero Plaza, with further details from the SFMTA to come soon. This concert, similar to the recent Skrillex/Fred Again show held at Civic Center Plaza, has been organized with minimal lead time to prevent overcrowding.
Another Planet’s Bryan Duquette anticipates attendance between 2,000 to 5,000 people, which is significantly smaller compared to the 25,000 attendees at the May event featuring Skrillex and Fred Again. However, given the popularity of free events in San Francisco, turnout could potentially exceed initial estimates if the weather remains favorable.
Additional Future Events
This concert is one of three planned for the year as part of Another Planet’s agreement to utilize the Polo Field after Outside Lands. The next event is a one-day alt-metal festival scheduled for August 17, showcasing headliners System of a Down and Deftones. Tickets for this festival sold out in just 90 minutes when they went on sale in April.
About the Dirtybird Campouts
Since its inception in 2015, Dirtybird Records has hosted campouts that blend music and recreational activities, creating a “summer camp for adults” atmosphere. Activities include tug-of-war and wood carving, alongside musical performances. Although the campouts were suspended post-2022 while venue options are explored, some elements of this interactive experience will be integrated into the Embarcadero event, such as performers in costumes distributing free ice cream.
