Splash at Thrive City: A New Sports Bar Experience in San Francisco
San Francisco sports fans, get ready for an unprecedented experience as Splash at Thrive City, the largest sports bar in the Bay Area, opens its doors on February 7. Situated just outside the Chase Center, this expansive venue promises an athletic atmosphere coupled with innovative features.
Avenue for Sports Enthusiasts
With a substantial 30,000 square feet of space, Splash at Thrive City is designed to cater to all types of sports aficionados. The venue boasts over 75 televisions, including an impressive 840-square-foot curved LED screen capable of showcasing multiple games simultaneously—a feature perfect for high-energy events like March Madness. Real-time scores and news will scroll across a video ticker, ensuring fans stay plugged into the action while enjoying the atmosphere.
A Comfortable Setting for Everyone
The layout includes a ground-floor seating area equipped with booths and bar-height tables, along with a private second-level lounge featuring cozy couches and an outdoor veranda. This design not only fosters a vibrant viewing environment but also ensures comfort for patrons enjoying the games with friends or family.
Technology-Driven Experience
The design and execution of Splash have been thoughtfully curated by Sidecar Hospitality, which is renowned for establishments like Pacific Cocktail Haven and Kona’s. Co-founder Jan Wiginton emphasizes the importance of making a bold statement, particularly with the enormous screens that rival those found in cities like New York and Las Vegas. “We want everybody to be surprised when they walk in; the Bay Area doesn’t have anything like this,” said Wiginton.
In addition to game viewing, Splash integrates various entertainment options. The game room features foosball, basketball arcade games, pool tables, and golf swing simulators, making it a versatile destination for both watching and engaging in sports.
Dining at Splash
The food menu at Splash aims to elevate traditional sports bar fare while maintaining its shareability factor. Guests can expect a range of selections such as:
- Calamari and garlic fries
- Wood-fired pizza and smash burgers
- Thrive City Nachos, complete with a tableside queso option
- Steak Pu-Pu Sizzling Skillet featuring a New York strip steak
- A variety of salads and sushi rolls, catering to diverse tastes
Wiginton stated, “We definitely wanted to level up what people think of when eating at a sports bar.”
Refreshing Beverages
The drink offerings at Splash, crafted by acclaimed mixologist Kevin Diedrich, are designed to complement the diverse dining options. The cocktail menu emphasizes fruity and refreshing flavors. Notable items include:
- Hot Lips: A spicy margarita with Don Julio Blanco tequila, jalapeño, and citrus.

A Community Hub
With its outdoor space and planned activities for visitors at Thrive City, Splash aims to be more than just a sports bar. Wiginton declares, “We’re throwing a party every night,” highlighting the venue’s goal to attract guests for socializing beyond just sports events.
