San Francisco, CA — Thousands of activists, workers, and union members marched through the streets of San Francisco today to mark International Workers’ Day, also known as May Day. Demonstrators called for higher wages, improved labor protections, and urgent action on the city’s housing crisis.
The march began at Civic Center Plaza and culminated in a rally at Union Square, where speakers from labor organizations and tenant advocacy groups addressed the crowd. “Workers cannot thrive when rent eats up most of their paycheck,” said keynote speaker Maria Chavez, a union leader.
The event remained peaceful, with minimal disruptions to traffic.
