San Francisco, CA — Temperatures soared to record-breaking levels today, with parts of San Francisco reaching 92°F—an anomaly for the typically mild city. The heat wave has prompted officials to open cooling centers across the city, including libraries and community centers, to help residents stay safe.
Public health officials are urging precautions, especially for vulnerable populations such as seniors and those with preexisting health conditions. “Stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours,” said Dr. Anjali Mehta of SF Public Health.
The heat wave is expected to subside by the weekend.
