United Airlines Aviation Technicians Demand Stronger Contract Amid Outsourcing Concerns
Location: San Francisco, CA
Date: March 12, 2025
Upcoming Rally for Job Security
On March 13, 2025, Teamsters representing United Airlines aviation technicians will gather at the airline’s Tech Ops Base located at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. PT. This rally aims to advocate for a contract that secures fair wages and job stability while pushing back against the outsourcing of critical maintenance tasks to foreign countries.
The Stakes of Negotiation
As the second largest airline globally, United Airlines reported a profit of $4 billion last year. Despite these significant earnings, technicians believe the airline’s latest economic proposal is inadequate and detrimental to both their profession and the safety of U.S.-based operations. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, representing nearly 10,000 skilled technicians, demands terms that better reflect the airline’s profitability, including:
- Increased wages
- Enhanced health care benefits
- Transfer of outsourced maintenance work back to the United States
Who Will Be Present?
The rally will feature rank-and-file Teamsters, alongside key figures in the organization:
- Peter Finn, Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Officer of Teamsters Local 856, and Western Region International Vice President
- Chris Griswold, Director of the Teamsters Airline Division and International Vice President At-Large
Campaign Visuals
Participants at the rally will be actively engaging with the public by distributing informational leaflets and displaying signboards with messages such as “This Offer Won’t Fly!“
