“The nation’s largest holiday projection mapping festival” returns to downtown San Francisco for the fourth year in a row. This year, only one night of the 10-day event will feature a boozy open container party.
It’s becoming a holiday tradition in San Francisco to light up the sides of downtown buildings in December with dazzling projection mapping displays called Let’s Glow SF. If you’re like Mariah Carey and obsessed with Christmas and holiday events even though it’s only early November, you’ve heard that Let’s Glow Sci-Fi will be returning for a fourth year in a row in 2024, according to NBC Bay Area. You’ll be excited.
If you’ve never seen this colorful, large-scale projection mapping display before, the video above will give you an idea of what to expect. But all predictions for this year will be very different from previous years. The holiday cheer begins on Let’s Glow SF’s opening night on Friday, December 6th (7 p.m.) and continues every night (5:30-10 p.m.) through Sunday, December 15th, with a It can be sprayed.
“Let’s Glow SF, the nation’s largest holiday projection event, returns to downtown San Francisco for the 2024 holiday season,” the project’s organizer, the Downtown SF Partnership, said in an announcement. . “This free outdoor holiday projection art festival has expanded this year to include large-scale animated light installations by 13 artists and award-winning design studios from around the world and art installations at The Crossing in the East Cut. Seven unique locations participated.
The number of exhibits this year is seven, one more than last year. The map above shows the location of buildings where these displays grace the exterior. Let’s Glow SF displays are purple and black dots on the map, and all green dots are restaurants and drinking establishments. That’s because the Downtown SF Partnership wants you to spend your money while enjoying the light show.
And there will be two special “event” nights. On opening night, Dec. 6, a “countdown” celebration will be held in front of the Ferry Building at 5 p.m., followed by the lights being turned on at 7 p.m.
Next Friday, December 13th, there will be a neon block party, one of the boozy “entertainment zone” parties called Glow on Front. Front Street bars such as Schroeder’s, Harrington’s Bar & Grill and Royal Exchange will be selling open containers of alcohol to-go, similar to the recent Oktoberfest party held there. Alcohol will be sold, but the event is all-ages and will feature “Circosphere LED glow performers, glow face painters, a 360-degree photo booth, a black light community mural, and a live LED dance floor at the block party. A DJ is promised.”
