SoMa’s Mathilde French Bistro, which has been serving duck leg confit and onion soup with bubbling Gruyère for 30 years, will close on Dec. 31, said Lina Yu, who runs the restaurant with her husband.
But as the lights dim at Mathilde, You’s other French restaurant in the DuBose Triangle, L’Ardoise, will be serving up a sumptuous New Year’s Eve menu that includes caviar cream puffs and filet mignon.
“Lardoise is still going strong,” she said. As for Mathilde, it was the right time. “I had always wanted to quit, but when I turned 30, I decided it was okay to quit.”
