T&T Supermarket Set to Open in San Francisco’s City Center Complex
The City Center complex in San Francisco will soon welcome T&T Supermarket, a leading Asian grocery chain from Canada. This announcement comes after years of vacancy in the space formerly occupied by Best Buy.
About T&T Supermarket
Founded in 1993 by the Lee family in Vancouver, T&T is now Canada’s largest Asian grocery retailer, boasting over thirty locations across the country. The chain has recently expanded into the United States, with its first U.S. store opening in December 2024 in Bellevue, Washington. San Francisco’s T&T is anticipated to open in Winter 2026, bringing a selection of Asian groceries, prepared foods, and fresh produce.
A New Beginning for a Long-Vacant Space
The former Best Buy location at 2675 Geary Boulevard has sat empty for eight years, casting a shadow over the City Center plaza, which has also seen other major retailers like Mervyn’s and Sears exit. Previously, plans for a Whole Foods market were approved but have since stalled.
With the arrival of T&T, this retail complex aims to revitalize and inject new energy into the area, which has struggled to retain tenants.
What to Expect from T&T Supermarket
Spanning 50,000 square feet, the new supermarket will offer a range of products, including:
- Fresh produce and groceries
- Packaged ramen
- Prepared foods such as soup dumplings, green onion pancakes, and sushi
- A selection of desserts
- Specialty items from T&T Bakery known for its Asian pastries
Community Response and Future Plans
Tina Lee, CEO of T&T, expressed her enthusiasm for entering the San Francisco market: “San Francisco is on the rise, and we’re excited to be part of its next chapter.” The community has similarly responded with notable interest, with Mayor Daniel Lurie highlighting on social media that he has received numerous inquiries about the upcoming store, praising its food offerings.
