The financial implications were significant since his new apartment cost approximately 80% less per square foot than his previous one.

Since his move, Bennett has highlighted numerous benefits of living in Medellín. He praises the city’s excellent healthcare system, which is considered one of the best globally, and the quality of food and water available. He enjoys a wide array of fresh produce and the vibrant coffee culture, stating, “The coffee level, of course, is out of control.”

While he loves the warmth and hospitality of the Colombian people, Bennett notes some cultural differences. He explains that the directness often found in American communication can be less prevalent in Colombian conversations. “The culture is so kind; they don’t really like to say, ‘No,’” he observes, reflecting on the softer communication style of locals.

Now fully immersed in life in Medellín, Bennett has developed a tourism business focused on helping others explore the city. He holds Colombian residency and is considering applying for citizenship in the future. “I want to be here for the rest of my life,” he states, emphasizing how much the city’s values resonate with his own.
