Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, a popular fast-food chain known for its simple and focused menu, is making its debut in San Francisco. The new site will be situated at Stonestown Galleria, in a space that previously housed a McDonald’s for over 30 years.

Expansion in the Bay Area

Founded in Louisiana in 1996, Raising Cane’s has expanded significantly across the nation, including five existing locations in the Bay Area. Their first Bay Area outlet opened in Oakland in 2022, which attracted significant attention and long lines on its opening day. The chain has continued to grow, recently launching a new restaurant in Colma.

Despite plans to establish a presence in Berkeley that fell through in 2022, Raising Cane’s has acquired a location near the University of California campus at Bancroft and Telegraph, which is expected to open in the coming years.

While specifics surrounding the timeline for the Stonestown Galleria location remain unclear, permit activity has been noted, indicating progress toward making the new restaurant a reality. However, Brookfield Properties, the operator of the mall, has not disclosed further details.

Menu Highlights

Raising Cane’s menu is straightforward, featuring an array of combo meals that include three, four, or six chicken fingers, complemented by their signature Cane’s Sauce, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast. In addition, they offer a chicken sandwich and “tailgate” boxes featuring 25 chicken fingers for larger gatherings.

This expansion in San Francisco marks a significant milestone for Raising Cane’s, which has been on a growth trajectory, having reported the opening of 118 new locations in 2024 alone, exceeding its goal for that year. The company expressed pride in its employees for their role in this impressive growth and is excited about future opportunities to expand their footprint further in 2025.

With Texas hosting the majority of its stores—199 out of over 800 locations nationwide—Raising Cane’s continues to cultivate its presence throughout the United States.

In addition to the San Francisco outlet, Raising Cane’s has announced a new location scheduled to open in San Jose on April 1, at 2398 Evergreen Place.
