A Day of Remembrance
San Francisco held its annual 9/11 memorial ceremony at Twin Peaks, where city leaders, first responders, and residents gathered to honor the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks. The ceremony included a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
Reflections on Resilience
Mayor London Breed spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of unity and resilience in the face of tragedy. “We come together today not only to remember but to reaffirm our commitment to the values that unite us,” she said.
Honoring First Responders
The San Francisco Fire Department paid tribute to local firefighters who volunteered to assist in New York City’s recovery efforts following the attacks. Their bravery and service were highlighted during the ceremony.
Community Pledges of Unity
Attendees reflected on the importance of community in overcoming adversity and pledged to carry forward the lessons of 9/11. The ceremony concluded with a stirring performance by the San Francisco Police Department Chorus.
