Gadget’s demeanor may be uptight, but his approach to work is Zen. When asked if he was having a great Black Friday, he said:
That’s understandable, but will he walk away with more cash than on a typical Friday? He shook his head, having lived without a home in San Francisco for two years. “I think people are buying less here and more buying at work (locations),” he says. On a good day, you can earn anywhere from $80 to $120. If he’s really busy, he can make $300. However, gadgets don’t like to linger. “We want to be able to get in and out of here as quickly as possible,” he said. That is, before the police arrive. His array of products may seem random, but it’s not. “The items I acquire or accumulate are things that I think will sell quickly,” he said. “That’s the goal.”
The gadget is filled with lots of nerds, pre-wrapped sweets, and gold foil-stamped Ferrero Rocher chocolates in boxes shaped like Christmas trees. Because the woman who lived behind my parents always paid me and my brothers at Ferrero Rocher to shovel her driveway when it snowed. I officially start my holiday shopping by picking up two boxes at $5 each.
