David Fuchs Joins University of San Francisco Men’s Basketball Program
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco men’s basketball team has officially welcomed forward David Fuchs, a 6’9″ player from Vienna, Austria, as part of their recruiting class for the 2025-26 season. Head coach Chris Gerlufsen expressed enthusiasm for Fuchs’s talents and contributions to the team.
Fuchs’s Background and Performance
David Fuchs brings a notable résumé to San Francisco, having spent the past two seasons at Rhode Island. Throughout his tenure with the Rams, he became a key player, starting in 23 of 54 games and averaging:
- 7.8 points per game
- 6.9 rebounds per game
- 1.1 assists per game
Notable Achievements
During the 2024-25 season, Fuchs played in 29 games, continuing to demonstrate his skills with an average of 7.4 points and a team-leading 7.5 rebounds, shooting an impressive 58.7% from the field. His standout performances included:
- Third in the Atlantic 10 in rebounds per game
- Sixth in total rebounds with 218
- Eighth in offensive rebounds, totaling 64
- Three double-doubles
In his freshman year at Rhode Island (2023-24), Fuchs made 25 appearances, featuring prominently with 23 starts and averages of 8.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He earned recognition as the Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Week on February 26, 2024. His collegiate debut was notable as he contributed 10 points and four rebounds against Central Connecticut State on November 6, 2023.
International Experience
Before his time at Rhode Island, Fuchs honed his basketball skills in Europe’s professional leagues, playing for Ratiopharm Ulm and OrangeAcademy in Germany. This international experience has helped shape him into a well-rounded player ready for the challenges of NCAA basketball.

Fuchs is set to join fellow recruit Mookie Cook as part of the Dons’ 2025-26 basketball class.
