Plainview, Texas — The beloved “Red, White & Moo” festival, a staple of Independence Day festivities in Plainview, will now take place on Friday, July 4, 2025, after being postponed due to inclement weather forecasts. Originally planned for July 2 at Runningwater Draw Park, the event has been moved to Kidsville Park and will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Hosted by local dairy advocates, the event showcases the critical role dairy farming plays in the region, both economically and culturally. This year’s lineup includes a mobile dairy classroom aimed at educating families on the milk production process, alongside family-friendly attractions such as face painting, bounce houses, water slides, and a petting zoo. Attendees can also enjoy offerings from local food trucks and receive complimentary dairy treats, including milk, cheese, and ice cream, thanks to support from DairyMax and Southwest Dairy Farmers.
“Red, White & Moo” has become a community favorite not only for its fun activities but also for its emphasis on agricultural literacy. The mobile classroom, staffed by dairy educators, provides hands-on learning opportunities that connect Plainview’s residents—especially younger ones—with the rural roots of their community.
The rescheduling decision was made in coordination with the Plainview Chamber of Commerce’s announcement that the city’s fireworks display would be delayed until July 11 due to weather safety concerns. While “Red, White & Moo” is independently organized, event planners decided that aligning with the actual July 4 holiday would help maintain high turnout and ensure a safer, more enjoyable experience for families.
Though the fireworks have been moved to a later date, festival-goers are encouraged to come out and celebrate on the Fourth with their community. Organizers advise attendees to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for added comfort, and to arrive early to take full advantage of the short but activity-packed morning.
Admission to “Red, White & Moo” remains free, reinforcing the city’s dedication to inclusive public events that celebrate Plainview’s values and traditions. For a town deeply connected to agriculture, this festival not only serves as an enjoyable holiday outing but also honors the industry that sustains much of its economy.
Additional community events are planned throughout July leading up to the rescheduled fireworks show, creating multiple opportunities for residents to engage in seasonal celebrations. Local officials and volunteers continue to emphasize safety, accessibility, and family-oriented fun as guiding principles behind each gathering.
