City Announces $200 Million Investment in Aging Public Infrastructure
San Francisco revealed a $200 million plan to repair and modernize aging public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and water systems. The project will prioritize critical repairs in neighborhoods with the greatest needs, such as Bayview-Hunters Point and the Excelsior.
“Our infrastructure is the backbone of our city, and we can’t afford to let it crumble,” said Mayor London Breed. The initiative will also include upgrades to make infrastructure more resilient to earthquakes and climate change.
Residents welcomed the investment but urged the city to address delays that have plagued similar projects in the past. Officials committed to monthly progress updates to maintain transparency.
