San Francisco Expands Subsidies for Small Businesses
San Francisco introduced an expanded subsidy program to help small businesses cover rising costs, including rent and utilities. The initiative, funded by a $50 million allocation, will provide grants of up to $10,000 for eligible businesses.
“Small businesses are the heart of our neighborhoods, and we’re making sure they thrive,” said Mayor London Breed. Priority will be given to businesses in historically underserved areas and those hit hardest by the pandemic.
While the program was widely praised, some business owners expressed concerns about the application process and limited funds. City officials pledged to streamline applications and explore additional funding sources.
