San Francisco Launches Citywide Arts Revitalization Campaign
San Francisco kicked off a $30 million arts revitalization campaign to support local artists and cultural organizations. The program will provide grants to performing arts groups, fund public art installations, and create artist residencies in community spaces.
“Our arts scene is what makes San Francisco unique, and we’re investing in its future,” said Supervisor Rafael Mandelman. The program will also sponsor free public events, such as concerts and art walks, to make culture accessible to all residents.
Artists welcomed the funding but called for more affordable housing and studio spaces to address the displacement of creatives from the city. Officials promised to incorporate these concerns into future initiatives.
