Bringing Ballet to the Public
The San Francisco Ballet captivated audiences at Civic Center Plaza with a free outdoor performance previewing its 2024-2025 season. Thousands gathered to witness excerpts from Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and contemporary works by local choreographers, creating an inclusive and celebratory atmosphere.
Fostering Accessibility and Community
“This is our way of making ballet accessible to everyone, regardless of background,” said Artistic Director Tamara Rojo. Families, tourists, and long-time ballet fans filled the plaza, many experiencing a live ballet performance for the first time.
A Cultural Celebration
The event featured food trucks and interactive activities for children, including dance workshops and costume photo booths. Attendees praised the Ballet for its outreach efforts, which aim to break down barriers to participation in the arts.
Season Kicks Off Next Month
The Ballet’s 2024-2025 season officially begins next month at the War Memorial Opera House, with highly anticipated productions designed to blend classical traditions with innovative storytelling.
