San Francisco Announces Plan to Modernize Public Libraries
San Francisco, CA – The city unveiled a $100 million initiative to modernize its public library system, aiming to transform libraries into tech-forward community hubs. The plan includes upgraded digital resources, expanded Wi-Fi, and the addition of makerspaces with 3D printers and coding labs.
“Our libraries are more than just places for books; they are centers for learning and innovation,” said Library Director Emma Liu. The Main Library in Civic Center will be the first to undergo renovations, followed by branches in underserved neighborhoods.
Patrons welcomed the announcement, noting that improved facilities could attract more visitors. Construction is set to begin later this year, with minimal disruptions to library services.
