San Francisco Approves Funding for Homeless Outreach Teams
San Francisco, CA – The Board of Supervisors has approved $50 million in additional funding for the city’s homeless outreach teams, aiming to provide immediate support and resources to individuals experiencing homelessness. The funding will be used to hire more outreach workers, expand mobile health units, and improve access to temporary shelters.
“Addressing homelessness requires compassion and action,” said Supervisor Monica Chang, who championed the measure. The program prioritizes high-need areas like the Tenderloin and SoMa, where homelessness is most visible.
Advocates applauded the funding but emphasized the need for long-term housing solutions. City officials assured the public that this funding complements ongoing efforts to increase affordable housing stock and supportive services.
