San Francisco Expands Mental Health Services for Quake-Affected Residents
San Francisco, CA – In response to growing mental health concerns following last week’s earthquake, San Francisco has announced an expansion of its mental health services. The city will establish temporary counseling centers in affected neighborhoods, including the Mission District, SoMa, and Bayview-Hunters Point.
“These services are essential for helping our community heal,” said Health Director Dr. Nina Patel. The initiative includes free therapy sessions, group counseling, and trauma workshops, with a focus on accessibility for vulnerable populations.
Residents expressed relief at the announcement. “The quake was terrifying, and it’s good to know there’s support,” said Marina resident Jessica Flores. The city is also encouraging residents to use its 24/7 mental health hotline, which has seen a surge in calls.
