San Francisco Hosts Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony
San Francisco, CA – Thousands gathered at Union Square tonight for the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony, a cherished tradition that marks the start of the holiday season in San Francisco. The 83-foot-tall tree, adorned with thousands of LED lights and ornaments, dazzled the crowd as it was lit.
“This is a moment of joy and unity for our city,” said Mayor Carla Alvarez, who attended the event with Mayor-elect Maya Bennett. Performances by local choirs and musicians added to the festive atmosphere.
The event drew families, tourists, and longtime residents, many of whom expressed gratitude for a sense of normalcy after the recent earthquake. “This brings hope and happiness back to the city,” said attendee David Lopez.
