San Francisco Reopens Key Transit Lines After Earthquake Repairs
San Francisco, CA – BART and Muni announced today that service has resumed on most transit lines after emergency repairs were completed following last week’s earthquake. Key routes, including the Powell-Mason cable car line and BART’s transbay service, are now operational, providing relief to commuters.
“This marks a major step in our city’s recovery,” said Transportation Director Elena Cruz. Engineers worked around the clock to inspect tracks, tunnels, and bridges for structural integrity, ensuring passenger safety.
While most routes are running on regular schedules, some lines, like Muni’s J-Church, remain partially suspended due to ongoing repairs. Transit agencies have increased shuttle services to fill gaps, and full restoration is expected by the end of the month.
