Honoring the Military and the Bay Area
San Francisco’s beloved Fleet Week celebration will return this October, city officials announced on July 23, 2024. This year’s event promises to be the biggest yet, featuring traditional favorites like the Blue Angels airshow alongside exciting new attractions, including a drone light show and expanded ship tours.
A Boost for Local Businesses
“Fleet Week showcases the best of our military and maritime traditions while giving a boost to our local economy,” said Event Director Emma Caldwell. Restaurants and shops in areas like Fisherman’s Wharf and the Marina District are preparing for an influx of visitors, with the event typically attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees.
New Highlights for 2024
In addition to the drone show, this year’s Fleet Week will include hands-on STEM activities for children and expanded waterfront events for families. Military personnel will also host interactive demonstrations, providing an inside look at naval operations and life aboard the ships.
A Community Celebration
The announcement has generated excitement citywide, as Fleet Week continues to be a cornerstone of San Francisco’s cultural calendar. Organizers are committed to ensuring the event is safe, inclusive, and memorable for all who attend.
