San Francisco to Open Largest Public Electric Vehicle Charging Hub
San Francisco unveiled plans to open the city’s largest public electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, set to launch in early 2025. Located in the Mission Bay neighborhood, the facility will feature 100 fast-charging stations capable of fully charging a vehicle in under 30 minutes.
“This is a major step toward making San Francisco an EV-friendly city,” said SFMTA Director Jeffrey Tumlin. The hub will be powered by renewable energy and include amenities such as Wi-Fi, seating areas, and EV education kiosks.
Environmental advocates praised the project but emphasized the need for equitable distribution of charging infrastructure across all neighborhoods. Officials announced that future hubs would prioritize areas with low EV adoption rates to encourage broader access.
