San Francisco Launches Solar Energy Program for Low-Income Households
San Francisco, CA – A new program launched today aims to make solar energy accessible to low-income households in San Francisco. The city will subsidize installation costs and provide maintenance for rooftop solar panels, helping residents save on utility bills while reducing their carbon footprint.
“Climate solutions must include everyone, regardless of income,” said Environmental Director Lisa Martinez. The program is part of San Francisco’s ongoing efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
Participants like Bayview resident Michael Johnson expressed excitement. “This will lower my bills and help the environment,” he said. Applications are open now, with priority given to neighborhoods disproportionately affected by pollution.
