San Francisco, CA — Volunteers collected over 10 tons of trash during today’s Ocean Beach Cleanup, making it the most successful cleanup event in the area’s history. Organized by the nonprofit CleanSF, the event drew over 1,000 participants.
Plastic waste, cigarette butts, and abandoned fishing gear made up the bulk of the haul. “This shows the power of community action,” said CleanSF Director Angela Flores.
The city plans to install additional recycling bins and educational signage to prevent future littering.
