San Francisco City Men’s Championship

As the oldest municipal golf tournament in the United States, the San Francisco City Men’s Championship holds a prestigious place in the sports community. This annual event features various competitive divisions, including scratch men’s, senior men’s, women’s, senior women’s, and an open flight, attracting players from around the country.

Registration Details

Registration for the championship opens on October 1 and is available to all players. However, there are specific provisions for exempt players, which include:

• Previous ten champions of the San Francisco City Golf Championship.
• 2024 San Francisco City Men’s Championship Match Play Qualifiers.
• The top 20 players on the 2023-2024 NCGA Points Lists.
• Winners of the 2024 NCGA Champions events (Amateur, Mid-Amateur, Junior).
• Top 3 finishers from each of the 6 AmateurGolf.com Winter Tour events held from December 2024 to February 2025.

A total of 50 spots are reserved for these exempt players, and the overall registration will cap at 120 players. If the registration limit is reached, additional non-exempt players will be entered into a pre-qualifier event on March 7, 2025, at Lincoln Park.

Entry Fees and Qualification Rounds

Players who enter the pre-qualification round will incur an entry fee of $165. Those advancing from this round will then pay the remainder of their entry fee. The 36-hole match play qualifier will occur over the weekend of March 8-9, 2025. Competitors will play 18 holes at TPC Harding Park and another 18 at Lincoln Park to decide the qualifying score.

Of the 156 participants in the qualifying rounds, 64 will advance to the match play phase, which is scheduled to begin on March 15, 2025. All match play for the Championship Flight will take place at TPC Harding Park on March 15-16 and March 22-23.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

If players need to withdraw from the tournament, they must submit a form through the official tournament website. Withdrawals made before the entry deadline of February 18 will receive a refund minus a fee of $50. No refunds will be processed after the closing date of entries.

Cart Policy

For players and caddies in the Men’s Championship Flight, the use of golf carts is not permitted, as stipulated in Appendix I of the Local Rules.
