San Francisco to Host 2026 FIFA World Cup Fan Village
San Francisco, CA – FIFA officials announced today that San Francisco will host a major fan village during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The fan village, planned for Golden Gate Park, will feature live match screenings, cultural events, and interactive soccer experiences.
“This is an incredible opportunity for San Francisco to showcase its love for the beautiful game,” said Tourism Director Jaime Leal. The fan village is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors, generating significant economic benefits for the city.
Local soccer clubs and schools will also be involved, with youth tournaments and clinics planned as part of the festivities. Businesses near Golden Gate Park are already preparing for the influx of visitors, with many expressing excitement about the global spotlight.
City officials pledged to work closely with residents to address concerns about traffic and crowd management. “We’ll ensure this is a win for both fans and our community,” said Leal. Construction of the fan village is set to begin in late 2025.
