San Francisco Opens Community Center for LGBTQ+ Youth
San Francisco, CA – The city inaugurated its first dedicated community center for LGBTQ+ youth today, offering a safe space for support, education, and connection. Located in the Castro District, the center features counseling services, educational programs, and a drop-in area for teens and young adults.
“This center is a testament to San Francisco’s commitment to equality and inclusion,” said Mayor Carla Alvarez during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The project was funded through city grants and private donations, with several local LGBTQ+ organizations playing a key role in its development.
Youth attending the opening expressed their enthusiasm. “It’s amazing to have a place where I feel understood and supported,” said 16-year-old Alex Ramirez. The center plans to host regular workshops on mental health, career development, and LGBTQ+ history.
