San Francisco Expands Public EV Charging Network
San Francisco, CA – The city has added 200 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across San Francisco as part of its ongoing efforts to promote clean transportation. The new stations, installed in neighborhoods such as the Mission, Richmond, and Bayview, bring the city closer to its goal of 1,000 public chargers by 2025.
“These chargers make EV ownership more accessible and help reduce our city’s carbon footprint,” said Transportation Director Elena Cruz. The new stations include fast chargers capable of providing up to 80% charge in 30 minutes, making them ideal for busy commuters.
Residents welcomed the development, though some called for more chargers in underserved areas. “This is great, but we still need equitable distribution,” said community advocate Sarah Jones. The city plans to address these concerns in the next phase of the rollout, scheduled for late 2024.
